Will be headed down next Friday, the 11th. First time on the lake. Anything I should be aware of as far as running the lake? Eastside vs Westside Parks, is one better than the other? Thanks in advance!

Both ramps are fine. I typically launch on the east side. Once you get north of the power lines theres some stumps. I usually just idle past the power lines. Frogs, swim jigs, plastics are usually my go to out there. Swimbaits probably would work great also but im not a big swimbait guy. Anything with treble hooks is a no-go on about 99% of the lake (lots of hydrilla). You will catch some fish, its a pretty easy lake to figure out.

Best day i ever had out there was on a green pumpkin swim jig, tip dipped in chartreuse spike it, over the top of thick hydrilla in the heat of the day when sun was overhead. It was almost every cast until the sun started to go down.

Slow down once you get past the power lines, but you can fairly easily run up North along the East Bank, and up into "Yellow Bank" the largest cut on the West side.

I prefer the ramp on the West side, usually a little less busy.

Lake Nac is fun to fish, You can usually catch them on all sorts of different techniques. I think of it as one creek on Rayburn, fishes a lot like it.

That map is pretty close. I suggest running a little closer to the east bank though. There are a few stragglers north of the power lines that only show when water level drops.

that’s good advice. That was just a sketch To get a general idea. Seeing it in 2011 really helped me, there is definitely stump fields in and around that red area on my map, and along the east bank further north.

Be sure to stop and read the slot limit rules posted at the ramp if you plan to keep any bass. It s a nice catch and release lake.

20 years ago there used to be some timber 50-75 yards off the left bank headed into Yellowbank. There was also some farther right toward the middle. You had to thread the needle and run between it.

I don't fish the lake much anymore but I'm guessing it's still there.

Great lake to fish. Pine cove and Yellow bank great places to start. Try topwaters and baby brushhogs. Try watermelon red and sour grape. Also redbug finesse worms. Good luck.

Jarrett is spot on. There are, however, 2 stragglers SOUTH of the power lines. I think one of the stragglers is no longer an issue. There are a couple of stragglers as you go around the first point past the power lines on the east side of lake. There are some others here and there once you get about even with the red area on the map. I can't tell the exact location of the path listed on the above map due to the small size, BUT there are couple of stumps here and there along that general path. You used to be able to run easily 30 years ago because the major hazards were out of the water. I see people running north of the red area but there used to be some scattered trees in that vicinity. I don't know if that area is now clear or they just don't realize there used to be some scattered trees in that area. Jarrett could probably give you current clear path, I'm sure he knows that lake as good as anybody on this forum.


This too. This is also what I'm talking about on the North end too. If you "thread the needle" just right, everything is ok, but if you get too far one way or another it could be new lower unit time. I'm actually planning on going this weekend too. You should have a good time. It's a fun lake to fish.
