I thought you guys were heading down today. Were there many boats on the water?

We were the first boat there early, but two boats pulled in behind us. Wind was already blowing a little which wasn't bad to start off with , but then it got nasty. Total of 20 boats when we finally pulled out of there which was early. Anyways, from daybreak to around 10:00 AM we caught around 10 fish, all about the same size, but nice keepers. Returned all the fish we caught. I thought maybe we would run into you down there, cause a lot of the boats were after the white bass. Seems like the people are going crazy trying to get a mess of white bass in the boat. Enjoyed what time we did have on the water, and defiantly will be back in the spring when it calms down some.

Posted this in white bass section.

Fished last Monday. Got to ramp at 99 bridge at 9am. Only 2 trailers in the parking lot. Started fishing at 9:30 and had a 2 man limit by 12:30. (actually caught 60 but only kept 50) We were trolling rattle traps and Rapala Shad Raps upstream from bridge. Afterwards caught 9 black bass with largest at 4 lbs using weightless Senkos.

I fished by myself from 11-5 today and got 12-15 bass ( didn’t count). Most were small, but I did manage a couple of nice ones in 15-20 feet. I didn’t have any luck over the grass. I saw a lot of what looked like bass on the Livescope, but most wouldn’t bite what I threw at them. There were a lot of guys beating the bank looking for bed fish, but I never saw them catch anything.

It was a good afternoon. I caught both of those in the same spot within 20 minutes of getting there. I found a school of good fish ( a couple looked to be twice the size of these on the Livescope) and caught these 2 on back to back casts. Then I lost 2 more good ones. On the second one I lost, my line got tangled on my rod tip.By the time I got my line unwrapped from the rod the fish were gone.
I found several more schools of small fish. I marked the spot where found the good fish and went back several times, but only caught dinks. I think if I’d had another rod sitting there rigged the same I could have had a limit of solid fish in about 10 minutes.

Crappie fished at Choke on Saturday and Sunday. Limited out on Saturday. Caught 15 and quit at noon Sunday. Most came off a ledge on a creek bed in the main lake. 1/16th oz. jigs fished about 13-15 feet deep in 18 fow. First time fishing the lake. Good times.

Nice! I talked to a couple of crappie fisherman at the ramp Sunday who didn’t have much luck. I guess they’re spotty like the bass.

Thanks. And that's the same thing I was hearing.

White bass are good in the river from below the Highway 99 bridge up to San Migel creek. I picked up limits this week casting a small shad colored rattle trap & trolling shad colored $5 shadraps. I also caught a few small crappie around structure in 12-16 ft of water. Water temp was 65 degress yesterday. Lots of grass, but the water is fairly clear for the upper Frio.
