I haven't been on Eagle Mountain in a month or so, but I had the DoByns family cash in on a trip they won in a charity auction. All I've been doing is chasing crappie lately, but the fish were right where we left them in August for the most part. Here is what we did for success:

Water Temp: 82-83
Water Clarity: Lightly Stained
Best Depth: 8-14ft
Best Location: Main Lake Humps
Best Bait: 1/2 ounce White Shad slabs from www.constantpursuitoutfitters.com

We started our day by the buoy on the west side of the yacht club. There's a little hump there that typically holds fish early in the morning. After that slowed down, we went and checked the flats south of the island, where we saw a number of boats but not much going on in terms of fish being caught. I was surprised to not mark any fish myself, as this is usually a good area. We picked up shop and ran north, where I started graphing a very shallow hump about a mile northwest of the island. There were tons of fish in this area, with the majority being in 8-10ft.

We were able to pull quite a few off of the slabs until around 9:00-9:30, when the bite slowed down dramatically. We switched over to trolling Hell Pet rigs and it was back on after that. One word of warning, THERE ARE A TON OF SMALL HYBRIDS in the lake right now. I bet we threw back at least 25-30 of them. Keep your eyes peeled, as I was shocked by how many we saw come in the boat. Other than that, get out and enjoy the lake. The fish are incredibly healthy right now and the weather is really nice!

Take care TFF!

Thanks for the report ... very similar to what I've seen on my last couple of trips. I was surprised by the number of very small fish I got on my last trip, a few not a whole lot bigger than the slab hmmm ... healthy spring spawn, it seems.

Curious - the "small" hybrids you mentioned, what size/length were they? I'm gonna watch more closely for this ... I always look at the thin unbroken lateral line, but the small hybrids I've caught on Benbrook in the past always seemed to have a hint of a blue tone to them as well. Has EM been stocked with hybrids, or have they come from elsewhere (like Benbrook via the pipeline - is that possible?) It would be fun to have some mature hybrids in EM.

No eagle Mountain has not been stocked with hybrids. They come down the river from Bridgeport..

Good to know Laner, the heads up in reference to short Hybrids. Living in Weatherford, EM is so close but I don't target Sand bass.
