It's starting to get good, real good, and if the weathermen are accurate in their ten day predictions, I think it's about to get just plain silly. Here is what we've done the last few days to load the tailgate.

Water Temp: 82
Water Clarity: Very Lightly Stained
Best Depth: 12-18ft
Best Locations: main lake points and spot with immediate access to deep water
Favorite Rod: G Rod 8ft Pro Mag
Favorite Reel: Pflueger President spooled with 8lb Mr. Crappie hi-vis
Favorite Jigs: Slab Syndicate and Constant Pursuit Outfitters

The past week has seen very cloudy mornings that have kept the fish scattered, so I'm getting creative and taking advantage of heavily feeding fish around docks and bridges. There is an incredible amount of .75"-1" shad swimming around structure all over the lake, so the fish are looking incredibly healthy. So much so, that they are pooping and burping up shad all over the boat. After about 8:30-9:00am, it's off to the brush piles where the fish are grouped up and ready to play. Although I am seeing large numbers on piles, we are still getting 3-5 keepers per stop. This should change once the water temps drop aka more fish per each stop.

The quality has been noticeably good this year, and given the numbers we are already seeing, I have a feeling I'll be cleaning a lot of fish in the next couple of weeks when the water temps drop. I'm terrible at reading the future, but I have a feeling it's going to be a very fun October. If you want to come out and fish with me, great! I'd love to have you. If not, do yourself a favor and get on the water this fall. Guides all over are already starting to post good numbers of high quality fish, and it should only get better as fall progresses. Have I ever mentioned how much I love my "job"?! www.ftworthfishing.com

Take Care TFF!

Very nice Lane! I'm ready for these fish to get into that fall bite. They are tough to get to bite in the metro for me lately.

Book of John, I'll be on Cedar Creek this fall until our guided hunts start up. It's my favorite lake to fish when autumn rolls around.
