Wondering if anyones been through the process or happens to know the process of advancing to fish at the college level? Senior this year and have fished THSBA past 2 years.
Just curious how to get exposure or apply for teams.
Primarily looking into Tarleton, but open to talking to anyone.

Thank for any tips/advice!

Most college teams are just student organizations/clubs. Pay dues, buy a jersey, pass classes, fish so many club/local events to earn entry to national events is about all you have to do in most cases. The very, very few schools giving scholarships will have their own method for recruiting.

The trick is finding a coach, adviser, or club officer to speak to; that kind of contact info is almost impossible to find on most college websites. Best bet is to find their social media pages/accounts, especially on Facebook, and send them a private/direct message. It's usually an officer or coach/adviser administering the account.

This!!! My son fishes at SFA and it was a challenge to get information. Most everything is managed by the students, couple that to class schedule, part time work and homework, those young men and women are difficult to get a hold of. Good Luck!!!

The schools that have fishing teams offer them as a club sport or organization. Basically all you have to do is sign up, show up, and be a full time student.

A lot of good info already posted, as said above fishing is a Club sport as it is not part of the NCAA... You can look up the club sports director at the schools you're looking at and get the info for the fishing club from them (assuming the school has a team) usually you will get the presidents contact info of the club then just reach out. If the team already has a club they will show you everything else you need to know, its been about 7 years since i did it and it was a lot of fun. However, the school i fished at basically gave $0 to the fishing club and we were paying out own way, definitely made it hard to fish the larger tournaments that could be out of state.
