The 66 ramp has three ramps and I launched on the one on the left closest to 66 and while in gear headed toward the two no wake buoys closest to left buoy I hit object and blew out my lower unit. Stay away from left no wake buoy.

the new ramp, closest to 66, is almost on top of an old road bed

It is shallow all the way across all three ramps. Loaded there last week and had to trim motor way up to get boat on trailer.

Yes, I was idling. Went out the next day with a recovery boat using sonar and found a Chevy engine block and six 8 foot steel pipes which we winched up. There was a large construction barge parked next to the closest ramp to 66 and don’t know if the pipes came from it.

Fortunately we got the stuff out of there. But definitely keep the engine trimmed up with water being down.

I have launched from this ramp since mid 80’s so was surprised when I hit the engine block.

Thank you for taking the time to do that!

Launched there yesterday alright just have to keep motor trimmed up high until you get nearly to the no wake bouys or you will drag bottom. Got into the river but had to use push pole for about the last fifty yards.
