I have had that exact thing happen to me, in the fog just off the tip of Red Bud Island. I was retying when I heard the oars, looked over my shoulder just in time to be able to drop what I was doing and back up far enough to let him miss me. He had no idea I was there until I hit my paddle in the water. He wasn't quite as much of a douche as this guy. But I don't know how they can get away without having some sort of mirror while rowing backwards like that.

I just saw a similar interaction at Bachman Lake in Dallas. Kids were rowing too close to shore, got tangled in some bank fisherman's line.
Their coach, in another boat, launches into a curse-filled rant (using a megaphone) that the fisherman shouldn't have had his line out so far.

These stories make me want to borrow a beat up Jon boat and park it in their sculling lanes to go fishing. Then just apologize when they run into the Jon boat. Oh Iām sorry, did my my $100 Jon boat put a chip in your $3000 racing boat.
