My thoughts and prayers go out to all that are affected from Imelda. It could have been worse.. but for some of our community it can't get any worse. Many, many flooded, and worst of all it that many that got flooded from Harvey... got ReFlooded. The Cajun Army is out and helping people in those areas and rescuing many that were stranded; thank you to all that are helping even if you are just helping your neighbor. Worst of it was east of Houston in Winnie where over 45" of rain fell, but Houston ... and Galveston Bay Watersheds also got hit hard enough to cause some flooding as well in varied amounts from street flooding to overbank flooding and some loss of structures I'm sure. All this water will flow into the bay this week and that will have it's affect on fishing as well. Here's a rainfall image total for the week... but it maxes at 25" There was more than that in several areas. And we can also keep up with Bay Salinity here at Salinity Nowcast https://www.tidesandcurrents.noaa.g...omain=gb&model_type=salinity_nowcast

never a good thing when folks are put out of their homes, or lose their home. we're lucky to live on the bay on pilings. on the bright side though, the redfish will be up in that flooded grass!

Iām hoping Mother Nature gets this wet weather out of the way for Winter-Iām sick of the wet winters.

Update on affects on fishing.
While the western side of Galveston Bay was hit pretty hard from inflow from the Houston and Surrounding areas, it mostly resulted in a fresh top on the west side of Galveston Bay proper. The area from around Smith point and the wells west of Smith and south is still holding good salinity. Trinity was not as hard hit as anticipated, but it's been fresh for most of the year anyway. Salinity levels in most of Trinity remain between 3-6 range. The area closest to Trinity river outlet did get pretty fresh, Double bayou ran fresh as well. And so did Upper Galveston Bay with the San Jac. No releases were made from Lake Conroe or Lake Livingston. The salinity drop from the local run off should dissipate fairly quickly and fish are already being caught. Bull Redfish are being caught on the Dike and Jetty and along the beach near the pass. Trout are still plentiful in the bay where salinity is sufficient and in the surf as well.
It's a great time of year to cast and blast. Hunt in the morning and fish in the afternoon. Good stuff.
holla at me if I can help anyone at all tobin@troutsupport.com
