Fished Fayette on Thursday 9-26-19. The bite was about average. Was not as good as the last time I fished there. Myself and fishing pal Jeff launched our kayaks from the Oak Thicket Park around 8am. We fished from 8am till 1p. We caught around 30 fish which included some nice fat Bluegill in the 8 to 9 inch range, a few Redear in the 9 inch range, and a couple of bass in the 1 to 2 pound range. All fish were caught on Gulp Alive Minnows,Chartreuse in color. Drop shot methods were used. Fish were caught by Hydrilla beds in 10 to 12 feet of water. We fished by reed beds where we had caught good numbers of Bluegill in the past and in appeared that the gills had moved on. All fish were released. Will be fishing Fayette a lot next year! woot

You might consider fishing the Austin area more! I have a couple of new water bodies that I will be fishing in that area also. Will be giving one of them a try this up coming week. Several anglers who I met in Austin have giving me some pretty good information on other Austin area water bodies. Mainly lakes and creeks. hmmm

Laker...I agree that the gils (in general) are moving out of the reedbeds to a little deeper water. Last week I found the biggest concentration out maybe 20 yards from a past productive reedbed, close to some trees. (Caught zero in that reedbed) I was hoping you would recognize the spot in the video I posted. Let me know a couple days before you go next time. I definitely think it's within kayak distance. What was the wind like & was the water temp still around 90 degrees ?

The wind was blowing and it played a factor as to where we were fishing and the water we covered. The few places that we did fish and really did well at the last time we fished Fayette the fish had moved out. The spots that were holding fish did not have as many as the last time. There were a couple of good spots we would have fished if not for the wind. Water temperature started at 86 degrees and ended up at 92 degrees in some spots. That is one advantage you have with a boat. A medium wind is a less factor.

I have fished several new spots in and around Austin over the past two years and did well on everyone of them. The only problem I have fishing some of them is the I-35 traffic. It is a total mess no matter what time you hit it! nuts
