So I went out yesterday and tried my luck. Got to the ramp and threw the net many times. No shad. But got plenty of bluegills. Those work just as well I figured and dont smell as bad. Wondering where the shad went? I was there before sunrise and have been catching them there all Summer.

So I push the yak off and start off the day bass fishing. Which was good! Caught several on square bills as well as some sandies on the same. Once the sun got a little higher I start catfshing. Got two small channels in 3 hours. Tried deep, tried shallow, drifted, anchored you name it. Always around bait fish though.

So as I am leaving, its about 130pm. Hot and bright as heck. For fun I throw the net on the ramp again. The BIGGEST haul of Gizzards I have caught to date. Must have been 40+ of them. Threw again and the same along with a 5lb bass!

Strange that they were not any around in the morning but packed into 4 feet of water at mid-day.

Anyways, that's my story. I hope the bite gets better if fall comes!

We fished Sunday morning from 8-10 and did pretty good Dan. We saw bait at all depths but we got started late so I got bait deep. We got our bait in 29 ft. Fish had everything pushed up off the bottom everywhere I looked. Started off fishing on a mid lake hump and caught 5 dink blues. Fish weren’t grouped up good like I was expecting. We headed north up the channel and started marking tons of fish and bait in and around the channel in 29 ft. We drifted 1 long drift through 15 acres of fish and ended up with 20 and missed a couple of good ones. The next cool front that hits will make em go nuts. Lots of fish still on main lake structure but tons of fish and bait are starting their migrations north. texas

Well dang Gato you guys had a good little run! Nice looking family you got there! Can you show me what these acres of fish look like on your unit? I see some pretty busy fish areas but i cant tell what the heck they are half the time.

So my next plan is Monday, if the wind is right, go to the spot you told me about on those points and try there...only thing about that spot is have trouble making bait there. But I will give it a go!

Cheers mate and keep up the good work!

Not Lewisville but on Whitney the shad are all over the lake. Huge clouds of 1-2" shad. Was able to find enough big gizzards in 45-50 fow for cut bait. A lot of of small eaters hanging out under shad along with stripers.

I marked some good fish on mid lake humps in the main lake last 2 weeks Dan so should be some fish in that area I showed you but truth be told I’m gonna primarily be fishing the old lake from now until January. That big 15 acre group we fished around Sunday was in the old lake. I don’t have any graph pics of it but they will be grouped up like that for the next month and they are very easy to locate. I will take some screen shots next time I’m out. We’re off the lake this weekend with soccer games and Lewisville Western Days but I can send you some drift runs to try. Drag that yak over to the old lake and I can show you where they like to hang out for the next month. texas

Really nice graph pictures there, 44 thumb
On L-ville, last Sunday evening, catfish cove was covered up with shad and everything that eats them. I can’t imagine launching a cast net from a ‘yak, in open water though.

Its not fun. I have done it a few times but for sure prefer just getting them on the ramp...which works well this time of year. But come winter, its HARD to make bait from a yak no doubt. Even dangerous when the water gets cold.

Had six sisters from Wisconsin out this morning. Did pretty good for a boat full of estrogen!! Wound up with over thirty eaters, majority on threadfins in 18 to 30 ft
