What if we had a local tourney circuit allow you to weigh in as many limits as fast as you could during a day? Like the one they had last year at Squaw. Would that be successful? Just wondering what you guys think? I fished the Squaw and it was quite fun although we finished 50 pounds behind the leaders!! lol

Once a year might be unique and interesting. I would not be interested in fishing a trail where every tournament I had to run back and forth to weigh in throughout the day. Too much time spent not fishing for me.

I have said it for a while now that I would love for someone like Champs to run their tourneys with live updates but on a best 5 standpoint but understand it would be hard to do for something that large for a ton of reasons. If nothing else, it would pump me up if we aren't catching them but we here most others are.

My BILs Bass Club adopted the format and he said it just didnt work. The ordered all the fancy scales and each boater had to have a non boater to verify each others catch. Even though they spent 1000s on the scales he said they just weren't consistent. To test it, theh did a normal 5 fish bag but weighed and recorded their catch assoon as it was in the boat. He said his scales recored 12.5 but ilto check, they all kept and did a normal weigh in, he said the weights were all way off.

That's a huge investment for the tournament organization!. Putting go pros and scales in every boat those things are not cheap!

There's a number of tech groups working on serious CWR app solutions and it's going to get there. "Scaling" the scale is coming and as our tech gets better this will become more commonplace for organizations. We can all argue about the time frame that it's going to take but you will fish an event with a GoPro 12 on 7G wifi live with a perfect scale that locks the weight and sends it in real time to an app and live leaderboard and you'll have PB&J's and Root Beer in your live wells. It's going to happen.
You won't be able to question the scale or the process or cheating but trust me you guys will find something to complain about regardless. Lol.

That's a cool premise. Imagine instead of needing a ref in your boat, you're just livestreaming to a room where they are monitoring you and you have to show them the fish/scale for each catch for verification. For smaller club size trails you'd probably only need 2-3 people watching.
Thats my money fish Kris Winhold

No doubt there is factor of error in all scales. Would think they are about the same.

I agree it's going to happen. It just takes vision and determination to push it through. The largest obstacle like any new idea is overcoming the old way of doing things. Not that the old way is bad per say or doesn't have a place, but there is room for improvement. There is such a fundamental shift in consumer economy right now that is filtering it's way through everything we touch. Interesting times ahead with such opportunity if someone is ready to latch on.

I think there are a ton of people that would like to fish some tournaments in this format. However, in my unprofessional opinion there are two major issues that are going to really slow this format in getting to the grass roots level quickly. The first and major issue is simply $$cost$$. Takes a pretty good investment of money to buy a quantity of good quality scales, software, electronics for field input, electronics to manage the data coming in from the lake, people to manage the data, money to pay boat officials if you go that route, money to buy camera equipment if you go the no official route.....the list goes on. Someone will make it happen but I suspect the payouts will be lower and there will be some growing pains with scale mess ups and just general technology problems.
The other issue that is absolutely huge is cell service. People living up in the big city discount this issue, but it is huge. Speaking as a person that runs a sizable business out in the sticks, poor cell service causes some major issues. This issue is also a problem with the MLF events. It keeps them from fishing the better big bass lakes we are accustomed to watching tournaments on. The reality is that cell companies are spending their money in metro areas. Cell service in rural areas is actually getting worse, not better. They simply don't get the bang for their buck investing in infrastructure in rural areas. There are some cheap boosters on the market, but they have very limited range and require DSL. The true cell antenna boosters are very expensive and have a range that wouldn't even begin to solve communication issues on even a small lake. If you are just submitting weight data then I suspect you can overcome the communication issues. Video is a whole different story. Lakes like Rayburn, Fork, Caddo, and many others are all out. I suspect MLF will find ways around this, but I bet the solution is not cheap and I bet it will not translate to the grass roots level any time soon. Personally I would love to fish in a few MLF format tournaments so I hope someone gets if figured out.

Best 5 is all the matters. Anything else is a joke. I could careless about who wins the dinkfest.
