Hello TFF Bass Fishing Fans,

Lake Fork is fishing very well right now which will make for an interesting tournament this coming weekend. The Big Bass Splash is the largest annual event on the lake with the biggest payouts and prizes. In 2015 only 3 weeks after my second hip surgery I was able to catch a large enough bass and finished the tournament in 2nd place. If you are a shallow water angler I suggest focusing on areas where you see the most baitfish on your graph and using either a shallow running crankbait, a swim jig, a topwater lure, or a dropshot. If the weather is cloudy I suggest focusing on shallow water in depths of 3-8 feet using a topwater bait, especially early in the morning or underneath the bridges during midday. I also recommend throwing the topwater as well as a shallow running crankbait over timbered points in the first half of major creeks on the south 1/2 of the lake as many bass will be suspended only a few feet down over much deeper water using the trees for ambush areas. The dropshot can also be a very productive lure for the offshore largemouth on Lake Fork as well as a carolina rig, a deep diving crankbait, and an umbrella rig. The deep water bite on Lake Fork is much better during sunny and windy conditions. Make sure to revisit productive deep water spots throughout the day as largemouth can begin to feed on them within a short period of time. Make sure to watch the video below to see how I would practice for the tournament for the most success. PLEASE be very safe during this tournament as there are many boats which are constantly changing locations, some of which are driving at very high speeds. I wish everyone the best of luck in this tournament and I hope that this information and video will help you have a great experience this weekend on Lake Fork!

Respectfully,

Does anyone know what lures / approximate depths the top 3 finishers caught their bass on? Congratulations to everyone who cashed a check, great job!

Only one person was deep, 20'ish ft. The others in the top 5 were shallow, around 5ft or so. Jig deep....I think one guy said he used a trick worm and another a craw?
