I took advantage of the low winds and sunny skies today. Went scouting for some upcoming sight casting trips. We definitely have our fall pattern starting to take shape.

Our bull tide is in and like each year the redfish seem to ride the tide into our bays. This is a welcome sign with redfish lurking on every corner and pocket. It is always fun to ease down a shoreline and witness their natural behavior. Watching these fish float around like they aren't interested in anything, then all of a sudden explode into action crushing a mullet or small bait ball.

One would think that with the high tides fish would be pushed up tight to the bank and in the grass. Don't get me wrong, a lot of fish were, but it seemed the lower to mid slot fish were the ones on the bank. The upper slots and overs would float up 25-50 yards out off the bank in 3-4 foot of water, many times not sticking around long enough to throw at. Fun to witness the different behavior and patterns. Today I threw a 1/4oz. jig head with a Down South Lure victorious secret super model.

Looking forward to what lies in store for the coming months. Whether it's sight casting or wading it's going to be a good fall.

I took this photo with my phone, behind my polarized sunglasses. That is why it looks so copper. But you can see why a good pair of glasses are needed for a day on the water, especially sight casting.
