Haha I've watched so many videos and read the instructions on this thing and it doesn't operate quite like it should. I've tried custom and put it on auto and it gives me a variety of screens. Hard to find fish with these screens

Adjust depth to match actual depth. Reduce on sensitivity and set surface clutter to med. or high.

You should start seeing a clearer picture. The depth setting is a personal thing and auto may work fine. Try both.

Remember if you are in 10’ Of water and set the depth manually to 20’ you are going to automatically loose half your screen.
Auto should give you 75% Of your screen maybe more.

I could be wrong but that looks like some kind of interference .... check that transducer mount and then check that ground wire...gotta have a good ground...then look up the factory re-set code should have a soft and a hard reset i would start with the soft......call the lowrance tech support line their pretty good...

Something else to look at. Is the transducer parallel with the surface of the water, when you have the boat normally loaded and moving at your searching speed?
In one of your pictures, there’s a normal presentation at the far left (earlier in time). However, when you’ve taken all the pictures, you’re stopped. You may be receiving surface (or the bottom of your hull) reflections because your transducer isn’t level with the surface of the water.
This is far more critical with side and down-scan, but it matters for sonar too. For most boats, parallel with the hull bottom isn’t parallel with the water surface.
It’s a detail that the manufacturers don’t devote enough time to, in their manuals. It really has a huge impact on customer (your) satisfaction.
This leveling really can’t be eyeballed. And it does take a moment on the water and a moment on the trailer to get it right.

I really appreciate the info guys. I'll dig some more into it. It's on my pontoon boat. I just put it where the previous owner had his transducer mounted but it may not be mounted correctly.
