How to tell the defferance of the two. Sometimes they look close to the same. As you can tell I don't do a lot of bass fishing.

The top 3 identifications of a spotted bass:
1.The two dorsal fins on the back will be connected
2. Back of the Jaw line will not extend past the eye
3. Sandpaper type patch on tongue

Plus they usually have some very distinct markings that largemouth do not have

I feel like when I grab a spotted bass the scales actually feel more rough then a largemouth and spots are more streamlined. Their mouths are definitely more toothy and rough.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

Yep. Some largemouth now have tooth patches on their tongue but ID tip 1 and 2 above are definitive with tip 3 supporting the case for being a spotted bass (if it doesn't have a tooth patch, it's not a spotted bass).

Throw in habitat it was caught from. Very rocky/bluffy stuff is prime spot territory vs grassy/woody cover for largies.
