It has just been too dang hot to fish Bastrop but it has cooled off a little and I made a trip there today. With the September glare and then clouds, I couldn't see anything in the water until I was right on top of it. I did a lot of blind casting and a lot of cleaning grass off of my crank boat hooks. The wind was a lot stronger than forecasted but what else is new? I stopped at 20 LMB at around noon. With all of my boat problems lately, I was extremely happy to not have any alarms go off and the boat staring every time. As luck would have it, I was not able to go without some trouble, though. I inspected my boat and trailer before I left the house. My boat trailer license plate is gone. It was not stolen. It somehow came off. You can tell because the bracket is broken. Oh well; there goes some more money.

Weird. The date on my post is 9/21/19 (today), but it says "yesterday". And it sure wasn't at 9:59pm.

I had heard from friends of mine who fish Bastrop and they all have said the Hydrilla/Grass beds are bad! Glad you were able to catch some fish and sorry of the loss of your trailer plate! taz

The jury is still out on whether I like the "new" hydrilla and spiny naiad. I finally caught a few fish yesterday that I know were hiding in there. This maybe a situation where the LMB are just having to get used to new hideouts.

Hydrilla beds and bad do not belong in the same sentence, when talking about bass fishing. You just have to know how to fish it.

Rayzor...Last week when I got home from Fayette, I noticed that my license plate was barely hanging on...the plastic bracket was torn & had about a quarter inch to go or I would have lost my plate as well...Now I know to check it more often. Got a new bracket at Tractor Supply.

Plenty of good grass on the south side. We went out yesterday and boated 30 up to 4lbs. They did kill a bunch of grass at the North Shore launch.

Vogey - I am going to try a polymer bracket from etrailer. Maybe it will flap instead of bending and breaking.

Hookem - There is plenty of grass all over the lake. I stopped at noon with 20. I would have probably ended up with twice that amount if I had kept on fishing. I found a pattern and it was working. My Wife I are both over 60 and we have caught over 80 in one day.

I always use a piece of stainless steel wire to wire my plates on all my trailers. If the bracket breaks, the wire keeps it tied to the trailer. If someone is trying to steal the plate it will at least slow him down.

I have thought about doing this. Thank you.

Like I said; it was not stolen.

Wow! New plate only cost me $7.00. I installed the new bracket, the plate and put a chain on it.
