Ok should I got with the regular Tekota or the new A series? 500 or 600 size? I will be using this reel for both casting and planers.

I have fished with the regular Tekota before but not the new A series.

I run the older and newer Tekotas as well as abu 6500. The new HGA is definitely the way to go. That 6.3:1 gear ratio makes all the difference when cranking in planer boards on long lines. I run the 500s and they do great but I will be getting the 600 next time for a little extra line capacity. When you get one in your hands you will be amazed at the quality. Those new Tekotas will instantly become your favorite reels I guarantee it. texas

Michael Littlejohn uses the Tekota exclusively now. I have reeled in a big blue or two with them. They are nice
