WillieRip: When I lived in the Texas Hill Country, I trapped shiners in Johnson Creek with an umbrella net, 3' x 3'. I used small cans of cat food in the center, with holes punched in the can lid. Minnows also seem to congregate at boat ramps. I suspect they like the green slime that grows there. I used a pole with a hook on it so I could lift it straight up and not lose minnows. I never had any luck with the cylindrical minnow traps. Mostly caught crawfish. Good luck! IslandJim
