Does anyone fish this lake regularly? Is the water west of the 1971 bridge fishable?

Haven't fished it in a year, but the water west of the 1971 bridge is fishable, but has a bunch of hard as a rock stumps just under the water. I believe there is a boat lane that is sort of marked, but be very careful back there.

Yes it's fishable. There are no lanes that I know of west of the bridge. The lanes on the east side of the bridge have recently been re-marked and easy to follow. As mentioned above, if you get out of the lane or west of the bridge then you'll want to be at idle speed.

I can't remember exactly how long its been, but that area behind the bridge was sprayed for salvinia two or three years ago. I fished it earlier this year and didn't find much grass, but there is or was some, way in the back . Don't know if they had to spray again this year. Still one of my favorite lakes in late winter.

Not like it was but a few patches here and there. Parks and Wildlife were out last week replanting some of the native vegetation. Still an excellent fishery, especially for a small lake.

TPWD eradicated almost all the vegetation in Murval but there was still some reed grass way up in the back above FM 1971 last month. Yes above the bridge is fishable but mostly shallow. There should be a lot more fish back there with the cooler water temps now.
