If you buy an after market alarm system they can install remote start for you. That's what I did with my 2013 model Tundra.

Also added a Kenwood stereo that had a back up camera included.

What do you think you have to sacrifice owning a Chevy/Ford/Ram? I don't think Dodge makes pickups anymore.

For the record, my dad has a Tundra with just a few more miles than me (75k vs 61k in my Ram), and he's had several small fixes on his that were outside the 36k warranty. My Ram hasn't had any. New trucks these days are all very well-built. It's not the late 90s or mid 2000s anymore when certain brands had major quality issues. For the most part, they've realized that they can't be charging $30k+ for vehicles that have all sorts of issues. There are exceptions of course, but they're much more rare than they used to be.

I'm also not saying that you have to pick one truck because it gets 18 mpg and the Tundra gets 16 mpg. I'm saying the Tundra gets 16 mpg and other half tons are getting 25-30 mpg. It's not "a few mpg" difference like it was a decade ago.

Where do you get 25-30 from? Not even a mid-size gasser gets that. If you are talking diesel again then reduce the MPGs by 25% for the price difference in diesel plus the cost of DEF. Fuel that is.
Fair point.

Diesel fuel is about 10% extra right now. Sometimes cheaper than gas. But we'll use current prices.

I got 31 mpg on my last tank when I filled up yesterday. Reduce by 10% for fuel cost difference, so take that to 28 mpg. Let me know when a gasser hits that mark. DEF costs are essentially nothing. I fill up for $10 at Buccees twice a year.

Btw, I picked 25-30 because the Ram is rated at 28 mpg hwy. Most folks on the ecodiesel forum are getting upper 20s with 75/25 hwy/city driving.

I know it doesn't matter and we will all continue to buy what we want but........

Gas mileage is only one factor to consider with truck brands. What will you spend to maintain a Ram for 6 years? So far at 6 years I have bought a set of tires & a battery.

I only paid $33,600 for this Tundra, that was including taxes & fees.

The resale value for a 6 year old Tundra is over $20,000.00, how will a Ram compare?

have a 2011 Ram Laramie 4x4 5.7Hemi that just turned 140000. have never even put plugs in it !!! normal 5000 mi oil changes and fluids per the book. tows the 21 ft boat no problems and gets 11.5-12 doing it, and i'm not talking at 55 mph! have seen 18ish on freeway not towing. looked at Tundras when i bought it but the interior and dash, instruments panel in the Toyota looked like a model car, pure junk. no heated cooled seats at the time either. at the time the Hemi was rated at 390 horses too where the Tundra was not.

A 6 foot bed would be nice, but that's not an option here. Otherwise, I'm happy. I test drove about 6 different F150 models from raptor to XLT. I didn't really want an ecoboost, and I heard the newer 5.0 was having issues. Also, I thought the 10 speed was shifty feeling, and I didn't care for the start/stop feature at stop lights. The F150s were more expensive too. Ultimately, I decided this was the truck for me. I think it looks good without the chrome (need to do something about the door handles and mirrors). I did not test a ram or chevy mostly due to preference. I came from a 4Runner, so I have some Toyota loyalty. Gas mileage isn't really an issue since I avg maybe 7K miles per year. I can see why that's a deal breaker for some though. In the end, buy what you like. I'm happy with my purchase so far, a few days in...

nice but the chrome mirrors and door handles need to go. I have the chrome bumper ends and have been thinking about doing something with them. Problem is I had a painted front bumper on my Tacoma and it took a beating from road debris especially the idiots that drive on the shoulder. I will pass you in the next passing lane, thanks. I went with the 2017 because there was a big price jump jump on the 2018s and I did not need or want TSS. With the features on the 2020s I am sure the price bump was even more. I don't know if it was this thread or another. People are always bashing Tundras for MPGs. Someone said that Tundras turn well over 2000 RPMs at hwy speeds. This is simply not true. Mine turns 1900 @70.

Nice, if you feel like it please DM me and tell me where you bought it, List price and price OTD please.

Probably doesn't help, but I purchased from San Francisco Toyota in CA. They only had the truck for a few days, so were not really willing to deal much. In any case, I got 5K off MSRP. They were really ready to deal on the 2019 platinum they had. It was a little over 8K off MSRP. With the price increase for 2020, it's about 4K savings 2019 vs 2020, maybe more.

MPG is definitely only one factor. I am 3+ years into owning my Ram with zero maintenance expenses other than a set of tires. I drive a lot of miles and it's held up well.

Did you buy your Tundra new? I'm not sure you can get anything other than a regular cab for $33.6k new out the door.

Funny you mention 6 years. My dad is trying to sell his 2013 Tundra right now. We have it listed at $20,750 and have had almost zero calls on it. I am not buying into the Tundra resale argument. Especially since he's replacing it with a Ram and he's looking at lightly used ones, and everything we find that's a decent deal is gone before we can get to it.

Funny how experiences differ. The last 3 Tundras I have sold, I had a list of people wanting them and didnโ€™t have to advertise them at all and for at least middle retail price for them. I think the condition and general level of trim make a huge difference with any truck. Donโ€™t know anything about Dodges. Never will.

I think I might buy a Tundra next just so I can see how it feels to drive the greatest gift to mankind since the wide mouth beer can.
