Now that I have your attention. I have a very important question....
There is roughly 10 pounds of prime deer sausage waiting on me in Brandon MS. I have a 15'' x 15'' x 15'' perishables box for shipping. I need to send it over there to my friend, and I am trying to have it with dry ice and a return label so all he has to do is pack it, tape it, and ship it back. Right now I'm looking at 2 day shipping there and 2 days back costing me about hundo. The dry ice I'm looking at around 20- 25$ to hopefully get it back cold if not frozen still.
Will this work? Any better ideas?
Trust me this sausage is worth 125$ And a little planning.

I would wait for a month or two if possible. That 100° heat will make it hard to keep anything cool. Also, ship on a Monday to avoid getting hung up in a warehouse over the weekend.

Maybe pack more dry ice than you will need on the return trip. Then if it melts down there is still enough to keep the meat cool. If there's too much ice when it arrives the sender can just toss whatever wont fit.

Or look into having fresh dry ice delivered locally to the sender.

If there's too much ice when it arrives the sender can just toss whatever wont fit. Dry ice at WinCo is roughly 10$ for 7 pounds. 20 pounds will last 48 hours depending on the type of cooler. I'm thinking if its packed right it will last longer and I have a good cooler.

Trust me this sausage is worth 125$ And a little planning. We get frozen food delivered, part of our Nutrisystem orders. They send it in these thick styrofoam containers with a bag of dry ice that is approx. 12 x 12. The containers seem to do a good job. 3 days of shipping and there is still some dry ice (little bit) and the food is still frozen. Once it took almost 4 days a few items were beginning to thaw. I kept a few of the containers if you would like one, you can have it. But anyway, if the styrofoam container is thick 3" or greater, you can get 3 days of shipping Fedex.

If you have a good cooler he can use, and everything is frozen and on dry ice, you'll be golden.

PITA due to hazmat shipping regs. [color:#CC0000]DRY ICE SHIPPING[/color] 5-10 lbs dry ice per 24 hour period depending on temps and container. Special packing needed for dry ice and special paperwork, especially for air shipping....

Thanks Bob, I got my idea from Omaha Steaks. The cooler I have is what you are mentioning. It's a very thick walled Styrofoam cooler. I need it to stay cold at least 4 days. Overnight shipping is way too expensive.

Create a Fedex account and shipping will be cheaper and i believe you can ship based on dimensions rather than weight with Fedex home delivery. Don't quote me on that though.
