Lol. It’s only gonna frustrate you when you need to remove it and can’t find the key, or the key hole pins are rusty. But i bet it looks cool.

A pit bull that sleeps under the boat cover. Seriously though there are guys up north that use chesapeake bay retriever for just this, they have them stay in the boat overnight when at tournaments.

I got it! Get a custom Ultrex cover made that says “Motorguide” on it. Best of both worlds then! It's funny.. The ole MotorGuide on our previous '97 boat, out lasted BOTH new Minn Kotas on current boats!! I'll be back with MG when the time comes

I used button head torx security bolts for the mount and head unit. Got them off Amazon.

LOL, A sawzall? I could have your ultrex off in less than 2 min with an allen wrench, screwdriver, and a pair of dykes. You don't need to get to the underside.

And you don’t need an Allen wrench. Just a screw driver and a 10mm wrench or deep socket. But, you’d have to remove the foot pedal and recess first. Then reach WAY up to the point of the bow to keep the nyloc nuts from turning as you use your little screw driver. A sawzall will just obliterate the 1/4” thick bolts....along with any fiberglass that’s in the way. I, honestly, would take a serious bet that you couldn’t even get to the nyloc nuts in two minutes. Good try though.

But it seems the steering box doesn't allow the space to use the Dura-safe lock. Is your Ultrex a different model than mine?

I would rather get my trolling motor stolen occasionally than take the motor off every single night that I travel with boat in tow. Been lucky on the “trolling motor theft thing” for several decades(like most everyone else). Think about the electronics every time I stop somewhere(though rarely actually do anything about it) but never really think about the trolling motor. The fact that the OP even brings up this question does point to the fact that Trolling Motor costs have hit a crazy $$$ new height though! Fabricated Paranoia’s a waste of energy. I’m a bit of an underachiever though.
