Is it legal to paddle Mount Creek Lake? I drive by there every day and never see any boat or kayaks on it, and am only now seeing a few people either fishing or swimming (I cant really tell which) across from DB. I know that there are DSHS health guidelines about what fish can be eaten because of the elevated PCB levels, in certain species of fish but from what I read PCBs do not pose a threat to swimmers or boaters. It is a nice lake but wondering why no one is ever on it. Thanks.

I have never heard of it being illegal to yak or boat there. There are videos of fish being caught off boats and yaks. There are actually good fish there...just don't eat.

I think a lot don't fish it because I hear cars get broken in to and it's kind of in a shady area..

Thanks for the input. Since I have never seen a boat out there I never thought to do a search on youtube, there are a few nice videos about MCL. I guess the shady thing may just be what keeps people out of there. I pass by it every day on my way to/from work and have only seen a hand full of people out there all summer, but I'm starting to see a few more people across the street from DBU. Seems like really peaceful place to paddle though, but if I were to come off the water and find my truck gone or vandalized that would really be a bummer.

The boat ramp is closed and locked up now. and I haven't found anywhere to fish it from. You would only want to bass fish it since you cant eat the fish

We water skied on it in the 60s-70s. Very shallow. Very polluted. The navy base used it as a dump back then. We also ate the fish we caught. Still alive. Lived on Ave. B some in the 80s, was a partying place then. Pretty sketchy now.

You can take a kayak out on the lake. There is a park on the west side of the lake that my son and I put in at. So far, no one has bothered with my truck, but if you saw my truck, then you'd understand why. Just don't stay out there too late and you'll be just fine. Be sure to put your kayak in the water at the far south end of the park near the playground because the north end as cliffs and it impossible to get access to the water. The bass fishing is excellent. Just don't eat the fish. I am still on a quest to find the three-eyed largemouth bass.

When all else fails, make another cast.

Thanks all fr the for your comments. I'm more of a paddler than a fisher, so I'm mainly interested in kayaking. High planes, where is the park? I pass the lake on Mountain Creek so I was not aware that there was a park near/on the lake. I drove by the golf course, is that where the park is. Let me know. Thanks again, all.

Fish the coves around the golf course. Nice bass have been caught from the bank back in there. By me. Used to carry a collapsible rod in my bag. Good luck.
