Fished Mcqueeney the other night with good buddies Jeff and Steve. We fished from kayaks and launched from Jeff's back yard. We fished from 9pm till around 2am. We fished by lighted docks and set up our own lights at a couple of locations. We had a good night of fishing. We caught plenty of nice Bluegill in 7 to 9 inch range,Crappie in the 12 to 14 inch range,several nice Channel Cat's in the 3 to 5 pound range, and a few bass in the 2 to 5 pound range rounded out the catch. Steve lost a very nice bass at his kayak. He had fought the fish for about a good five minutes. He guessed the weight between 8 to 10 pounds. We saw plenty of minnows! Fish were caught in 8 to 14 feet of water around sunken lights chasing minnows. Small crank baits Silver/Black, and Rooster Tails White in color got very good results. We also used the one inch Gulp Alive Minnows Silver/Black and got good results especially on the Bluegill and Crappie! We kept some Bluegill and Crappie for a up coming fish fry and released most of the fish we caught. Spending some time while it last on a super lake.

As always nice post Curtis! I love fishing under dock lights. Caught many of nice crappie and Bluegill during the night and under the lights. Good job guys!

Thanks guys for the replies. Gitter Done: All I know by speaking with my friends who live on Mcqueeney that there is only one active law suite and it is being heard in court now. The suite is involved in a lot of issues with the GBRA including mismanagement and dam maintenance. There are strong rumors that more law suites are waiting to be filed on later dates.




Chuck: I have fished under lights on Canyon Lake last year with fair results! Caught a couple of Striped Bass, and a few Crappie along with a bass or two. We fished one of the many coves.

Thanks Laker! It's amazing how things can change FAST! One day the river lakes are here and the next day they are gone. Looks like a long legal road is ahead. Seems that the lawyers are going to be the only ones making out in all of this.

I see that the judge sided with the HOA and has given time for both sides to get their case is order and to have their own experts examine the dams. I think he has given them a year. Also saw on the news where the lakes will be closed to all recreational boat traffic until a safety report is turned in. Once the report has been turned in, danger zones will be established and blocked off. Boats will then be allowed back on the water.

Court date has been set of October 5,2020! In the meantime no boat's or any other type of water craft will be allowed on any of the river lakes until danger zones can be established and blocked off!

River lakes will be closed starting today!
