I went to Texoma this weekend with a buddy of mine. While we were signing in to Eisenhower Park, we ran into Mike who was looking for the fishing pier. I asked Mike if he wanted to fish with us and he was in! We took off in search of schooling fish and they were there but they were moving fast and we just couldn’t stay on them. We decided to go thump. I headed to my usual spot on Tabletop and marked a few fish on the graph so we dropped some baits and turned on the thumper. We had our first fish within minutes and caught a fish every 10 minutes or so along with a bunch of small catfish. When the fishing slowed down we tried a couple of other spots with no luck until we had to head back. We lost one other fish we hooked drifting but all in all was a fun trip. Mike and Marshall both caught their first Striper with Mike’s being a fat 28” fish!
I saw you out there Sunday. For the life of me. I couldn't figure out why you had a trolling motor flopping out of the water. Now I know lol. We chased those schools too eventually found where they were hanging out and got a limit on artificial baits. I thumped a few times the old fashioned way. Its amazing how well it works. I carry an old rod with me for surface slapping lol.
Those fish were moving so fast! I just couldn’t keep up. Good that you were able to find out where they were headed! We were able to thump up some nice ones!
If you are interested in buying or building a thumper, call me 972 689-4245. I fish Texoma almost every weekend so you are more than welcome to come see it in action!
