I have an 1986 Johnson GT150 and need to have the lower unit resealed. Found a small amount of water in the lower unit grease and some of the grease has also leaked out into the gear housing/nose cone. Not making any noise and is working properly, but really don't want to run it again before having the issue addressed. Any suggestions on a good mechanic in the Fort Worth area that you would trust to do this work. Also if you have any kind of guesstimate on what kind of $ I should be looking at that would be appreciated.

So you see any oil outside the lower or find this doing an impeller change?

Found the gear oil in the nose cone/gear housing like it leaked out from around the prop shaft or the seals at the back of gear housing. The color is of chocolate milk. Cracked the lower unit drain plug and a small amount of water as well chocolate milk colored gear case oil.came out.

IF THAT'S THE ORIGINAL SEAL YOU SURE GOT YOUR MONEYS WORTH, I WOULD ALSO CHECK YOUR PROP SHAFT TOO MAKE SURE IT'S NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM AS WELL. A SLIGHTLY BENT SHAFT OVER LONG TERM WILL CAUSE SEAL FAILURE. JUST MY .02 WORTH.......
