Reel is an okuma raw II spinning reel that I’ve caught tons of fish on in Florida salt. Had It put away for about a year and pulled It out recently to find It was seized up. No big deal, I just took It down to the local tackle shop for a complete cleaning. Shop guy calls me and tells me he’s tried everything he knows to do and it’s so seized up that he can’t even get the spool off. Handle won’t turn, etc. Like it’s cemented. Anyone seen a reel do this? I know salt can cause problems but It’s not like it’s been submerged.

I do my own.. Had some of the same, salt water reels that had not been used in years. After my wife died I had nothing to occupy my time so I overhauled like 10 of them. I would try if you're ready to throw it in the trash. My first priority would be to do no damage. If i'm over my head I would send it back.

Shoot me a pm and I’ll send It to you. I wasn’t even going to go pick It up from the shop so if you could get It going that would be great. If not, no biggie, it was gonna be trash anyway.

I had kind of identical problem with Okuma Cedros 55. It's eccentric was almost unmovable.
(ATTENTION:!) when I attempted to unscrew eccentrics central nut, could NOT do it!!
Put some WD40 and tried harder after 1/2 hour... broke large amount of the reels body ….. yes, with screw in it! ((
Now I have to trash the reel because they don't sell this body part separately ((((

It's the environment, I've had lot's do that when I first started saltwater fishing. Now have some Penn Slammers and haven't had an issue in the past couple of years.
