Been a long time Ram guy (past 6 trucks have been Rams...loved the 3/4 tons..not completely pleased with the 1/2) and its time for a change.

All things considered I’ve got it narrowed down to a 2019 F150 XLT 4WD and a 2019 1500 LT Texas Edition 4WD. Thoughts and opinions? Price is about the same - Chevy has a couple more bells and whistles.

Leaning towards the Ford because we are also upgrading the wife’s Cherokee to an Explorer and it’d be easier to do a one stop in and out for both vehicles. Chevy won’t deal enough to make a Tahoe work and she hates the traverse.

Appreciate the feedback on the trucks. Only Chevy I’ve owned was my first vehicle - a ‘84 K5...had a ‘06 F150 for a little while and a 06’ F250 for a shorter while (got stolen and I sold it when it was recovered two weeks later).

I haven't driven a Chevy in many many years. I've had 4 or 5 Ford F-150's over the years as work trucks in construction and put them through hell and was shocked at how well they did. I have a F-150 now (2017) with the 3.5 ecoboost. Not sure about the longevity of it yet (I'm at 48K miles) but so far it's been a great truck. Pulls way better than my Tundra I had (that had the 5.7 v8) and gets around 20 mpg driving about 2/3 highway and 1/3 city.

If you're with a credit union you can get the 100k extended warranty for about 1/3 of what the dealer offers and you get pre-approved before you go shopping. Takes the power away from the dealer when they lose the financing end of it. Dealers don't want to hear this but it's the only way I'll finance a vehicle from now on. When I bought my Ford I was at the dealer maybe 20 minutes. Drove away and signed the loan docs the next day from my computer. Easiest way to buy a vehicle. Plus better interest rates than what you'll likely get from a dealer.

First Ford we owned was a 96 Limited Explorer, drove it for 13 years, the odometer broke at 160k at about year 9. Second (truck) was an 09 F150 Lariat and I'm still driving it, at 197k I expect to get at least another 75k out of it.

Chevy gets better mileage on V-8's and ride better. The Fords I had [2010 & 2012] were good trucks price went up so much went back to GMC. I like the onstar on GMC. I think for me the GMC is a better truck but that really is opinion. I get about 6 MPH better with the V-8 in Chevy's them my ford

I like Mercury better than Yamaha on big motors but YMMV
