Fished Fayette today from daybreak til 1:00 with friend Lloyd. Water temp was 91-93 degrees, wind light most of the morning & we got rained on briefly around 11:30. Started out on the rip rap caught 7 or 8 Rios in a row right off the bat. (All small) Caught maybe 30 more sunfish at the dam area, but only 1 slab. Moved across to east lake in the trees & reeds & ended up with 1 nice bass around 2 lbs., one nice catfish around 2 lbs. & over a hundred sunfish of various sizes. The big fish were not near as plentiful as last week, but we managed around 20 big girls. All fish caught on drop shot with Gulp Alive 1' minnows in various colors. We did locate a "new" spot in the timber that produced really well.

side note: They were taking up all the seismic buoys today. [Linked Image]

Gitter...Water temp was 91-93 degrees...
Doc...Hope your Conroe fish put these to shame..
Laker...Last week you mentioned the cove to the right of the Oak Park ramp...were you referring to the big cove on the left hand side as you are heading out to the lake, or a smaller one closer to the ramp ?
Gar & Banker...Thanks for the replies & comments...

CricketHook...Thanks for the reply...I still keep this picture you posted a while back for inspiration ! Is that area of trees you are in the ones closest to the dam, on the southeast side of the lake or is it the trees behind buzzard point ? I can see the power plant in the background. If it is, I haven't really fished that area for bluegill, but do fish it a lot for bass when the water cools down & the bass are shallower... [Linked Image]

Thanks Vogey!

Have you fished Fayette in the fall months. If so what is the usual water temperature? I have fished Fayette a number of times years ago and to the best of my memory during the fall months the water temperature was in the mid to upper 80's. Never fished there during the winter.

Gitter...Water temp is usually in the 80s til late October & 70s in the winter months. I do fish Fayette year round, but usually focus more on bass mid October til April. I have had a hard time locating sunfish in that lake after October...may try a few different things this year...

Thanks again Vogey! Caught some very nice bass during the fall months especially ahead to the cold fronts!
