It has been a excellent year so far. Plenty of BIG sunfish and BIG Rios are being caught. Myself,Rick-Catyakker,and Steve have been fishing a lot of South Central Texas creeks. The bites have been "On Fire"! We have been catching good numbers of Rios,Bluegill,Redear, and bass. Creeks are in good condition but can use some rain. Fish are being caught on worms with both drop shot and bottom methods being used. Brush piles and over hanging tree limbs close to the banks are holding nice fish. Rios are very active and the Rio bite is FANTASTIC! September and October are shaping up to be very good months. Late summertime fishing with friends. It just don't get any better! fish

Yes sirree, it's been a fun summer. Never thought the bite could be so good in the heat of a summer afternoon. Give me a little shade, a nice breeze, and of course some willing fish, over snow and ice any day. Whoopee. bouncy

Sweet haul, Chuck! clap I’m actually surprised to see the creeks in such good shape! That wet Spring and Early Summer really saved our bacon. I’ve been noticing the Rios are really on a tear. I actually saw Rios guarding fry on the SA River and some of its tributaries as late as 3 weeks ago. That was flabbergasting.

Hopefully some of the rain from the hurricane makes it this way. Of course I pray every one in it’s path makes it to the other side blessed and intact.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless His Holy Name!

Nice fish. I know by reading your post that Rios are active and biting well! When will the Rio bite start slowing down?

Thanks Gitter for the reply. The Rio bite will slow down once the first cold front blows through. The bite for the most part will shut down once temperatures start getting into the 40's. eeks

Side Note: Rios are usually few and far between from late November till about late March or early April! hide2
