Ever fish a shakey head below a drop shot bait? I know the hookset on those two baits is different but I'm thinking more of the drop shot bait
being Texas rigged so the hooksets are closer. Just wondering if anyone has tried it and what results they may have had. I'm thinking
I could also do this with any jig type bait.

I know I know, way too much time on my hands. smile

It adds another aspect of fish attraction/catching to the rig but for me it tends to hang up more so I usually do not change from the original set-up.

Are you talking about a basic shaky head presentation with a nose hooked worm 12" above the jig head?

A similar technique used in Fly Fishing....a dry fly with a nymph dropper. Tease them in multiple areas of the water column.

I tried that out, it works.

In my experience I got bit more on the shakey head than the drop shot rigged bait, when rigged together.

I don’t think it’s a game changer.

I can get bit just as much with a regular drop shot, but oddly not a shakey head alone...go figure.

haven't tried it but seems to me to be twice the likelyhood of getting hung up on something.

I saw a youtube video once that he used similar setup. He was fishing a fluke type bait on the drop shot and a jig on the bottom. Claimed that it made it look like the fluke was chasing the jig. Not sure if it really works or not.

Been there, done that for the last 10 or 12 years. Trying to double up, only did it so far, once Live and learn. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have used a jig for the weight on my drop shot for years. Basically the same thing. Giving em two different presentations to choose from. Works! I remember a few years ago there was a Honey Hole show on Squaw Creek. Wilcox fished a drop shot with a jig below as the weight. He caught a ton of fish out a little deeper. Most were caught on drop shot.

personally I use a 1/16 weight, 4/o hook on the bottom, brush hog or fluke, and a finess worm dropper about 18 or so inches up. Have for a number of years, works great
