I bought a boat that came up with a Hummingbird Helix 5 and a Garmin Echo 550 C

I am going to try to get the Hummingbird setup first.

This probably a dumb question. But how do you do this? Download the manual and go sit on the lake and read it and do it there?

The best way is to purchase an additional Humminbird power cord (PC-10 or PC-11), and hook it to a 12V DC power source in your home and run the unit in Simulator.

Start by doing a Restore Defaults to get rid of the previous owner's settings.
There is no one size fits all for all conditions, you just need to learn what the setting do so you can adjust from the factory settings if needed.

There are over a dozen Helix 5 models, it makes a difference which you have.
