The wife together a last-minute VRBO on Lake Palestine, for the Labor Day weekend, to my surprise.
I've never been on the lake and I'll be taking my grandson. Not looking for anybody's honey holes, but what's some keys to this lake?
I mostly a bass fisherman, but I do have some crappie gear for my grandson, so we can do either.
How safe is it to run the lake?
I will put in at the public ramp at Flat Creek and run north of Holt Point to the place where we are staying on the west side of the lake.
Any good places to eat around the lake?
Just general info appreciated.
Thanks and have a safe Labor Day weekend.

The lake is not safe to run, but from the ramp to Holt is not to tough. You are in a good area for fishing around there, but dont plan on making long runs from there with a boat to follow. I sent you a PM, happy to help with running around that area if you would like. As for fishing, just stick to the docks, a few good docks with brush around them in the area you are staying.

I've got the Lake Maps on my Hummingbird. If I stay in marked lanes, then can I run?
What about areas to pull a kid on a tube?

PM with any help appreciated

I've got the lakemaster chip, I would not use that as a reliable means of running to avoid timber on Palestine.
As far as tubing, head south to the dam. You have to get past the horse ranch to really be safe, imo.

If you'll search on here, there are some Google images that mark "safe" areas you can run.

That flat creek boat ramp is the old road. Follow it out about 75 yards until you hit the old bridge that is underwater. If someone is already sitting on that, then go to the underwater bridge on the opposite side of Flat. Run across Flat either tucked right onto the pylons or well outside of the underwater road bed on the main lake side.

Sat was pretty brutal. We started off by having a flat on the trailer on the way to the lake. Seems like all the fish we had found the last couple of weeks decided to go on a food strike and bites were very hard to come by. Still had a good time, hotter than heck but it was for a great cause.
Next year, it will be an even bigger event.

STROLLING: when the Palestine fishing is slow and your wife surprised you with a VRBO on the lake. You walk down a country road or take her for a “stroll”. STROLLING!
