How best to go about it?

Does it make sense to do a B class first then A?

Ready to start tomorrow.

you are about to step off into a whole new world as far as "work" goes.

if you have zero experience driving a semi you need to find a school and go learn the truck and log books, it is not like getting your license at 16, not by a long shot.

if you plan on local work and have a job lined up then get them to pay for the school or train you themselves. the only place I would recommend is CFI/CONWAY in joplin mo. for training (if they still do student drivers).

you can get a B with air brake endorsement and have a start but it is still nothing at all like driving 72' and 80,000# on 18 wheels.

I logged about 2 million accident free miles and trained drivers for CFI. got any specific questions ask away

It's not as easy as it used to be. What are you planning on driving, that will answer a few questions.

Suppose to have a non exempt CDL on anything over 26,000 lbs. on RV's. Been driving my 42,000 lb. camper for 10 years. Keep saying I need to get one. Nah.

Don't drive through Weatherford without it. DOT is stopping RV's and writing tickets. And don't get in a wreck...

Just sayn'.

Problem with trucking schools now days is most only teach in automatic trucks... which gets you an automatic only endorsement on your CDL. The test is more difficult now than its ever been, the pre trip is where 99% of people fail. Driving test wise it can be up to a 3 month wait to get scheduled in around DFW, we would send guys to Wichita Falls as their wait was usually only a week. Dont waste your time getting a B first, just get the A. The E-Logs make HOS as easy as its ever been for drivers, if you can operate a smart phone you can easily handle E Logs. Old school paper logging was far more difficult to get right, form and manner violations have all but become a thing of the past now days. Once you get the CDL the really difficult part begins... trying to find a company that will hire someone with less than 2 years experience.

Yeah, get in an injury accident and you will lose everything you and your family own and probably get some jail time on top of it.
