Biggest problem with the Hot tubs are the controller panels.

My son delivered and installed them for years in the winter for extra work.
95% of the repairs were control board related.
The other was poor set up. foundation not level and the fitting not installed properly.
Look on Facebook market place.

If you'd be willing to come to Arlington, I have a 2-3 person one that you can have. One of my Realtor peeps asked me to come pull it off a patio as it was liability to them with an empty house. It worked fine when I pulled it. PM me if your interested. Also pulled all the wiring, disconnect box and GFCI breaker. Thought I would install it for myself, changed my mind after reading about the how much power they pull. It is however 240V.

Are you going to ask neighbors to come over for a soak?

The most expensive hot tub I ever owned was one that was given to me for free.

Do you have any specific questions?

We bought one used 2 years ago. Paid $1000 and verified everything was working correctly before we hired a spa company to move it (best money I've ever spent. Cost me about 500 to move it 25 miles). Had a foundation leveled and setup before the move. Got it all setup and had a heating element go bad and a pump wouldn't work. We ended up spending about 4k total including the 1000 for the spa itself.

We use it occasionally. I don't notice a big different in the electrical bill. Our spa is a 5 person spa with dual pumps. Fairly decent size. Biggest problem we have is that it gets TOO hot in the summer. We even setup a cover to help block the sun, but it still reaches 105-110 during the summer. We like to set it around 95-96. Anything North or South of that and it isn't comfortable for us. If we could keep the temp dialed in 24/7 we would definitely use it more often.

Ours is a Sunbelt spa.

Be sure to change the filters.... Also run a "black light test"
Shock it silly and cycle the water a couple of times, it's amazing what surprises a hot tub can hold!
