Saw a few teams yesterday evening at Fork. Sounded like many had a brutal practice.

Thanks for the info.

Some of the guys said the water temps were well into the 90s. I saw 90-96 at Fork yesterday so i bet so.

For what some of those guys will lose in payback due to dead fish they could've purchased an oxygen bottle and not worried about losing any fish. That one team lost 2lbs!!

4 out of their 5 fish were dead. we fished LOP today and worked hard to keep 5 fish alive, and we were successful by keeping the water cooler along with please release me and aerator on all day. Another team in the TTO had 3 out of their 5 fish die as well. Don't know the details from the teams but overall very poor fish care. Not only did this cost the teams weight but we need to have more respect for our resource. I would guess that a lot of the fish that passed the "live" test will also die so definitely not good...

Education in fish care also has to be practiced. But, with that being said, I KNOW the MAJORITY of teams here know how to do proper fish care & DO! IMO it was just a brutal day & it doesn’t reflect on ANY of them on a regular basis. I think it was just one of those days that conditions were overwhelming & an unfortunate occasion.

I promise Cody knows how to keep fish alive. Something had to happen for him to have 4 dead. Maybe gut hooked or hooked in the tongue

Congratulations to every team for doing the best they could. They know it cost them dearly.

I agree. TTO is ran by great guys who go the extra mile and many of the teams in it are longtime tournament guys. It's hard to know how conditions will be months before when you have to set a schedule. It could have easily been cooler etc but the weather does what it wants. I don't anyone practiced bad fish care. Stuff just happens sometimes.

We're on the shallow end of Sandlin. I was down at the dock yesterday and stepped in the water. I couldn't believe how hot it was. Talked to a couple of teams that hadn't caught a fish.

The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's tpw biologist Todd Driscoll on fish care and pure oxygen. The whole series with him is great but this one focuses on fish care and oxygen systems. Very little chance of losing a fish if add this system. It's a no brainier for guys competing for money in the warm months

I don't get it. I have a tracker 190 and have never lost a fish to heat. Is it just rougher in a 21 ft for the fish riding around? By the time of my weigh ins they are still ramming the lid trying to escape!

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!
