Congrats on the new rig! thumb
Can't help with the lakes. But, if you're really in your first boat, I wouldn't hold out much hope for fish. You're going to be figuring out how to work with your new toys--focus on how to make it go safely. Bring your gear, for sure. Figuring out where you want everything is part of shaking down the new rig. Remember to have fun too.

On Hubbard, they have been schooling either at Robertson Park, the Jetty or on the east shore line.. after that you have to use your electronics to locate schools , they move fast but continue to come around.

Thanks for the feedback! I’m guessing the hybrids mix in with the sandies? I’ll have to get a map or something to figure out where to put in. Im assuming on lavon you can put in by the dam what’s it cost these days to dump a tub in

Lavonia is free and right in the area you want to be. Don't turn in to the park by the shack. Head straight through the open gates. Nice wide ramp. Good for a first timer. Good dock too. From Royse City you can just go to Nevada and head straight west. When you get to the stoplight at 78 go straight across the hwy. Not sure how the hybrids have been on Hubbard I gave up on it and started to fish mostly Tawokoni. I have heard a hybrid or 2 in Lavon but there are not many.

@StumpJumper: Hey I'll take any help I can get on Tawokoni too. All 3 lakes plus Fork are within a reasonable drive for me. I'm new to boat ownership but not new to boats. My old man and all my buddies have had boats since I was a kid this is just the first one I can call mine. Been driving boats and backing trailers since I could reach a gas pedal in a 74 chevy

Are we talking the Jetti by the power plant? And do you know anything about the nighttime bite right now?

Here is the best post about Lavon.

https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/10080753/1

I launch at Collin Creek Marina because it’s closer to my house but you can launch for free by the power plant. Reach out to Cary or check out his Facebook, texasoklahoma fishing guide. There is also a lake Lavon fishing Facebook page. You don’t always need one but a thumper is a good tool on Lavon!

Lavon is easy. You can find fish pretty much anywhere from east fork to lavonia right now, I mark them a lot and see them surfacing occasionally while crappie fishing.

Buddy was on hubbard recently a few hrs before dark. He said there were schoolings at the jetty. But most were small sandies.

I had the good fortune of fishing 6 different lakes this summer. The patterns seemed to be the same. Fish mostly roamed fast and didnt stay put long. The schools were short live and hard to keep up. Its better to burn gas and find structure fish and even the structure fish don't hang around long. Try marking them on the side scan and cast to them. Or use splasher or thumper and watch your graph to see waves of cluster fish moving under you. The underneath fish you can verticle jig with slabs or mepps or your fav lure. Good luck.

So Ray Hubbard was nearly a bust yesterday. Found a small school of very small sandies around Dalrock point no keepers at all. Gonna try some night fishing on saturday. Suggestions of a better ramp than Terry Park to fish under the bridge?

You could put in at the ramp north of BPS but I would feel better at Terry if launching at night.. The closer I get to Garland the more uneasy I get. Backing down the ramp at Terry in the dark might be a little challenging without some good back up lighting.
