I just moved close to the sabine river and was wanting to try and catch a gar and recommendation for bait and set up

circle hook dead blue gill on bober let fish run for like 15 to 30 seconds after bite then set the hook good luck

This is a perfect rig for catch and release, no dealing with rope lures getting tangled in the gar's mouth or dislodging hooks from the backs of their mouths. I've used it a couple of times with good success!
