I always do better on Lake Houston. Great bass fishing! Not a lot of big bass but can put together an 11- 15 pound bag most anyday. Sometimes have those 30 fish days.

Conroe has bigger bass....but harder to fish in my opinion. I prefer to bream fish on Conroe.

Both suck in the summer. Give me spring and fall and it is awn.

Tough fishing now that they removed all the structure and the lake is low for dam repairs. We have not caught them good out there since May, last weekend water was 83-88 and water is trout green because it has not rained. I see the tourneys bringing in up to 15 still though.

To the OP...fish it just like any shallow stained lake....laydowns, cypress trees, pads, rocks...boat docks...points with cover.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

Buzz bait early and late around lay downs, 1/2 ounce spinnerbaits, fire tiger crankbaits ( square Bill's and norman/rebel ) black/chart 6 inch worms. I have caught lots of bass up the east fork of the river fishing weed edges, boat docks, main lake points, the creeks south of 1960 get real shallow at the mouth due to silt but have some deep water inside them and usually clear. Also a good spot at the south east corner of 1960 at that old cedar landing restaurant dock and the drain next to it.

The county picked up all the lay downs.

Most of it happens up in Luces Bayou. But I agree, make the little extra drive and go to Conroe (on a day when there's not a million ski boats running around, if possible.) Lake Houston has never impressed anyone I'm around

There are a group of us that fish Houston regularly that call it our home lake and normally fish it more than any other lake around. Come to Houston next february you will be impressed. Right now its fishing tough. But I'm headed there right now to try again.

I need to run the boat this weekend. How hard is it to move around on this lake?

Will more than likely be moving to Houston in the next couple of years and need some motivation! I figured an hour drive to Somerville or fayette. Wanted to avoid Conroe at all cost but if lake Houston is a little secret I’ll be more than happy to make my way over there. Being 30min to an hr from the best lakes in the country (Tyler area) it was tough to get motivated about fishing around Houston.

This post is more of just talking it out lol what’s good tournament series in Houston?

Stay south of the railroad bridge if your not familar...and stay off the west side of the lake until south of the water treatment construction. If you put in at Dussen park you can run around all over the south end no problem at all.
