However, using the hand remote does take away casting and fishing time, especially in less than ideal conditions. I currently have an ultrex and I still use the hand remote out deep. I like the jog feature out deep using the remote.

Get with someone that has the Garmin Force and you will be amazed at how the wireless foot pedal feels. Blindfolded you cannot tell the difference between that and a good cable steer. Absolutely no delay.

I'm a foot controlled man, always have been.
The foot gets educated and becomes automatic.

After hip and knee replacement and back surgery I almost had to stop fishing. The ulterra and remote were a godsend. No more deploying a heavy tm and no balancing on one leg.

My Ultrex remote stays in the glovebox. I take it out once every three months and charge it just in case I ever need it. Never have so far.

You can take away my foot control pedal when you pry it out from under my cold, dead foot.

I probably use my hand remote 99% of the time. The rare occasion that I do catch a fish the foot control is there to take over.

Same here. I used to use the remote while sitting in the drivers seat and watching my Bird sonar, DI and SI but since I installed the Garmin on the bow I never use the remote. Couldn't handle having that thing around my neck anyway.

Both. I've never felt comfortable balancing on one foot while working the trolling motor and as soon as I got the remote, I began using that. Now I've adapted to use the remote but if I need to make small corrections while my hands are busy I use the foot control.

I tried the wrong hand casting and soon found it wasn't for me. I change hands during the cast so it really saves no time for me plus I'm a lazy fisherman and want to relax not rush.

Bass fishing, I prefer a foot control. Salt water fishing, I prefer a remote.

Foot control, I can perform the functions I use most (spot lock and heading based auto-pilot with my foot pedal. I only pull out the remote if I am in big waves, want to work the back deck, need to hit a stored waypoint, or want to navigate from the cockpit for some reason.
