I’d like to make an offer on a boat, it’s got pretty much everything I want except it is an aluminum trailer with an Aluminum tongue and a Fulton hinge.
I need the hinge to be able to get the boat in my garage. Problem is, according to Fulton you shouldn’t put them on aluminum tongues. The current owner told me a big name trailer shop did it, and said it wouldn’t be any issue with the light weight of the boat (mako pro skiff 17). Unfortunately the trailer isn’t made so that you could just replace the tongue with galvanized (tongue is welded on).
Does anyone have an aluminum trailer tongue with a hinge? Would you have concerns on towing this? Is there a reasonable fix (<$500)?
