Just bought a used Ulterra at a good price and know that to be able to use all the features that I need to have a HB unit connected to it. I have HDS 12s on my bow and consol and want to get a HB unit to add with the HDS 12 on the bow, I just don't know which one to look for. I think that it would have to mapping and GPS for it to work but I'm not sure. It looks like I will loose the DSI on the trolling motor unless I can figure out a way to put the cable on it without it getting in the way and getting broken. If anyone has ever done this I would appreciate it if you could text me some pictures. Really hate to loose the DSI on the bow. My number is 254-215-2252

The Ulterra would have to be the iPilot LINK version. That is the only Humminbird specific requirement.

If it is the iPilot version that has nothing to do with any sonar model/brand.

If it is the LINK version, which is an Ethernet connection to a Humminbird unit, you just need an Ethernet capable Humminbird unit to connect it to. Don't even need a sonar transducer connected. iPilot is GPS and has nothing to do with sonar.

LINK will give you Follow-the-Contour with Lakemaster HD mapping, Auto Chart mapping, and Auto Chart Live mapping. It will also give you more memory for iTracks and Spotlocks (waypoints) than the iPilot itself has.

Soooo as described above, you loose nothing with your Lowrance equipment, you just gain the LINK features.

I have the Ulterra with a HB and a Low up front. I have a Low total scan transducer on the Ulterra that I use with my HDS 12. I bought a mount and cable from Precision Sonar. It keeps the cable out of the way.

Thanks guys. It is the link version Ulterra so now I need to find me a HB. I will contact Precision about a mount. I knew someone on here had to know how to get it all to work.
