I use different line on different rods

2- 7' Ambassador Tournament rods with Shimano Curado 50 green reels for minnow fishing straight down .... 10# fluorocarbon line
1 - 7' Bonehead spinning rod with Abu Garcia SX40 reel for jig casting ...... 8# fluorocarbon line
1 - 7' Conolon spinning rod with an Abu Garcia SX40 reel for float and jig fishing .... 8# mono because it floats
2 - 4'6" Shakespeare rod/reel combo for under bridges in high water .... 8# mono (caught an 8lb catfish one time on it)

I use Berkly Trilene XL mono
I use Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon ..... line 15# and up I use Seagar Invizx
Seagar Invizx 8# and 6# just does not cast as well as the Berkley, but on my bass rods with 15# and up it does better and seems to be a little tougher.

I’m a 8# guy most of the time. I can usually bend a light wire hook with it instead of breaking off. I keep a reel spooled with 6# for super light jigs or shooting docks also but don’t use it very often.
