Headed out yesterday to fish and try new jigs about noon. It was a little breezy but still hot. We launched and headed out, but to get to a shady spot we had to get through this.

Last crappie of the day.

The crappie were all skitish. The one perch i caught faught harder than the crappie did. The only way we knew there was a fish on was because our line would stop. All fish were releasd to swim another day. We had a great day fishing and testing jigs.

I like that you mix up your jigs so much...leads me to believe that color really doesnt matter that much..
What do you think is your best colors for crappie..?

For ME red and white work best, but since we started testing ive noticed gold and silver work great also. Crappie are so confusing they are like women always changing their minds. roflmao

Always enjoy your post with family having a good time outdoors! Congrats!

On this lake I use 3' deep as my dividing line between clear and stained and the tiny things that can make a difference in catching. I have a short story that is truth and not but maybe 3 years ago. It was the end of the spawn and the crappie had moved out to 15' - 20' water depth on the edge of the Hydrilla. We found them at this spot close to the shore of an island with deep water close. This day was very bright sunshine and some clouds. Our primary colors to fish our little Roadrunner type baits long lining were Blue & Chartreuse or Black and Chartreuse in stained water, then in clear water there were a few also, but lets just use the Silver/Silver/FL Blue one. When the clouds were covering the sun our stained water colors were doing great, but if the sun popped out for a bit, the bite stopped unless we picked up a different pole with the Clear water color ready to go. That happened over and over all morning. It's as simple as a slight thing changing and it could be the water or the sky and sun or who knows all the different ways. I say all that just to show sometimes all it takes is a color change and sometimes it may be something else to make things work.
