Myself and fishing buddy Jeff fished Lake Placid during the night hours this past Thursday. We wanted to fish the lights at some of the docks knowing that most if not all of the dock lights will be out of the water at the end of September. We fished from 9pm till about 2am. We fished by several docks that had their underwater lights on. Bass, crappie, and Bluegill were all caught. We caught a total of 20 nice crappie and six nice bass. The bass were in the 3 to 5 pound range and were all released. We kept the crappie for an upcoming fish fry. We also caught a bunch of nice fat Bluegill about 30 in all and kept 20 of them. We fished by four lights and caught fish at all of them. The lights were in 12 to 16 feet of water. Small crank baits Silver/Black,soft plastics Chartreuse/Purple,and Rooster Tails Red/White got the best results on the bass and Bluegill. The crappie were all caught on jigs Chartreuse/Purple and Sliders Chartreuse/Black. Love that night time fishing! woot

Great report as always Laker! Good job guys! Kind of sad knowing that it will be coming to an end soon!

Side Note: I made a night trip on Placid several years ago with Chuck BAF and we caught a nice variety of crappie,Bluegill, and bass. Good times for sure.

Man...I sure will miss your Guadalupe lake reports when they are drained. It's been one thing I look forward to each week, especially when I was fishing Dunlap on a regular basis...

I know the feeling Vogey. These lakes were in our own backyards. Very easy to fish and get to. I am going to let the river settle down during the fall and winter months. I will then fish the channels on Dunlap,Mcqueeney, and Placid throughout the spring and determine then how much fishing time I will spend on them. I can tell you first hand that when the Lake Wood dam broke fishing the Lake Wood area went down hill ! There is a huge difference in lake fishing and river fishing! Will you be giving Canyon Lake any attention?

Side Note: One thing I know for certain, there is going to be a lot more Austin area and Fayette post! Along with hill country and ceek fishing reports. Might as well throw in Canyon Lake reports as well. woot
