I normally fish for carp and catfish, but since moving to the Bryan/College Station area, I’ve been getting more into pond hopping for bass. So far I’ve fished the Bryan municipal park (old golf course), finfeather lake, and Central Park with minor success (I actually picked up a few largemouth at Central Park today; pics below), blanked at the pond behind target, and blanked again at the pond behind sams club (however, that pond behind sams was full of life and we saw several big bass hitting the surface along with some really big fish tailing everywhere that I can only assume were gar). I’ve found a few threads about the ponds around town, but they were all several years old and I’m not sure how accurate they are anymore. Any info is appreciated!

Also, while I’m at it, I’ve heard there are spotted bass in the Little Brazos near where hwy 21 crosses. Does anybody have any input as to whether this is true or not?

Not much has changed. All that old info is still good.
I hit the golf course pond a few times a year. Biggest was maybe 4lbs.

For the most part, I've had to downsize to get bites. The smaller park ponds in college station have good numbers of tiny bass. An ultralight rod with 1/16oz jigs and 2" grubs will keep you busy all day.

Fished the pond behind the George Bush library when I was there and always had pretty good success.
