Fishing is still pretty slow but still catching some nice fish at night. Thursday night I caught a limit of LM Bass on some green lights using live shad. The shad are a little bigger now and are hard to catch the big perch with. Did manage one bait stealer on the shad. Was not able to find any ghost minnows in quantity that make catching the big perch easy. Now that the shad are 3-5 inches it makes it very hard to catch them.

Here's a picture of the LM Bass limit. ( The biggest LM bass went 24 inches and 10 LB)

Might get a little hate mail for posting pics of dead LM Bass but that's what I am catching at PK nowdays. Did manage a 16 inch striper that I released, so all the stripers didn't go out the flood gates but most of them did. I should be getting striper limits every night but I hardly ever catch one anymore. These LM Bass are better than nothing but do not fight like stripers do. I caught the big LM Bass on a no 6 Aberdeen perch hook. No way that would have happened with a striper. The plus side is there is lots of bait and every fish I catch is in excellent shape.

Nice Black Bass Mike. We will soon see if the stripe population went over the damn dam. Winter will tell as they gather up.

gborg: I can't wait to see if the guides can find them. I hear of big ones people can see swimming in the clear water below the dam. At least the river fisherman are having some striper fun.

My fishing buddy got the big one. The other bass were in the 14-16 inch range and better eating in my opinion. My wife has a recipe for pecan encrusted LM Bass that is a real treat.

Man PK is fishing tough, got skunked fishing two nights in a row. I wasn't using live bait, just slabs, swimbaits, and crappie jigs. I can see a bunch of fish in the 20-30ft range, but nothing was interested in our lures.Very few fish are hanging near the surface, but I did see a wolf pack of about 4-5 5+ pound stripers at one light near scenic point. They didn't stick around long though..

Andrew: Lures fish tough when there is so much bait. Two or three blind throws with the cast net and you have more shad than you can use. If I actually get myself on a school is just one throw.

More bait on the lake than I've ever seen in 18 years. PKfishing is right, we threw three cast and had enough shad for all night. Lots of gar too.

Bjank: Those gar are horrible to catch in a shad net. Just hit spot lock and sit down and untangle that nasty thing for 15-20 minutes. Catfish are bad too. Almost a guarantee of getting finned.

A small update. Still catching these green trash fish. Did manage a couple of sand bass to go with them. Two years ago the same place I am catching these LM Bass and perch anyone could have limited on sand bass in less than an hour. PK is fishing tough right now.

Heavy cooler of LM Bass, sandies and perch

Best two went 20" and 18". Also got a nice 16". Gave the big one away and will have the wife bake the others.

I sure miss the stripers. I may go to Texoma just to get my striper fix in the next week or so. All these fish are in excellent shape. The sand bass were very thick.

Water temps drop into the upper 60's, we will start seeing some stripes. If not, the lake will be a sandbass and black bass paradise.
