I renewed my freshwater license on Aug 17th so I got a new license saying valid from Aug 17th 2019 to Aug 31st 2020 .
I went to Academy today to ask to add saltwater to my license from Sep1st . However, the guy could only make it from today to Aug 31st.
Did he operate a wrong way or I have to wait until Aug 31st to add saltwater to my license?
Thx

I think it's hard to say, surely they should be able to do that with todays technology.. but worst cast scenario is just go to the nearest academy on the 31st.. although.. you might have to wait until the first... call TPWD and see what they can do

You are challenging TPWD's system. It is archaic. However, you can now use digital images of licenses! So download the APP and be happy.

But the website says : You mush have your physical license for any activities requiring tags. So is saltwater fishing requiring tags? Can I just show digital license or need use a paper one?

The GW would love for you to not have paper tags.
You need a tag for a big redfish.

yes you must have the paper license. i was checked by a GW back in 2004-ish. i showed him my Lifetime Fishing card, but he said he still needs to see the printed out license.

I have fished with a license that’s just on my phone and the GW had no issue. However since you don’t have a red fish tag you can’t keep one that would be tagged. You don’t need a tag to fish for red fish just to keep them. I am not keeping a tagged Red Fish anyway.

Plenty of guys I have fished with brought their license on the phone traveling to where we are going to fish.

Always use the paper license once I receive it in the mail. Waiting on both a Texas and Louisiana license to come right now. Reminds me that I need to ask my wife if she has seen them in the mail. Just got the Texas one last week as I had been out of the country on vacation and had not fished since late August.
