I know it’s a tough time of year for bass but have a general question, Just got my first bass boat. I’m 54 and getting accustomed to launching solo and fishing solid. Long term should I spend my time at LA or at Joe Pool? Looks like so much more structure and better fishing opportunities at Joe Pool. I live in Arlington but 25 minutes from JP. Thoughts from the board please and thanks in advance!

I prefer Pool, I just know it better and the coves to get out of the wind is a plus.... That said I've gotten lucky a few times on some good Arlington fish.

Arlington has some great fish. Pool too. Completely different lakes. Learn em both.

I live in Arlington too. I prefer Pool but also consider Grapevine. I like it the most out of the 3.

I live right next to Joe Pool, but would much rather fish Lake Arlington than Joe Pool. Pool is what I consider to be a deep water lake and finding the fish even with electronics can be really tough. Maybe I'm just luckier on Arlington, but I'm usually able to find bass at the dam and other areas on the lake.

When all else fails, make another cast.

They both have big ones. I spend far more time on Arlington. A little bit less pressure and Pool is another 25 minutes away.

Joe Pool without a doubt. I have fished both and prefer Joe Pool, probably because it is a larger lake. It is a tough lake and certainly is a challenge. Just when it seems like I have it figured out--it changes. Get yourself a Hook-N-Line map of the lake, buy the yearly pass to Loyd, and spend time on the water. If your like me, you will struggle for a while before you start catching them but will eventually start having some consistency. Then of course it will change. Good luck.
