She lives in Allen. Hired a contractor to build a large patio cover, tear up the old patio, replace with salt concrete?, build outdoor kitchen, etc. The guy got 3/4 of it finished, quit showing up, and did not pay at least one of his subs. She has locked him off the property and had already paid him a substantial amount but not the total for the project. She is prepared to deal with him in court if necessary, but in the mean time needs someone to finish it. Masonry, finish the ceiling, wiring, etc. Any reputable names to offer would be appreciated.

If she needs help with the legal end of things, one of my former classmates handles such matters. He's rather tenacious.

Let me know if you want his name & contact info.

The subs, if not paid, will slap a lien on the property even though the crook was paid. Don't ask me how I know. Did she make sure he was an insured contractor?? If not, whoa boy. Good luck. Wouldn't touch a finish job until the crook is toast. Get a lawyer if big bucks.

They must be few and far between.

Never pay any son of a %@$ a dime for anything until the job is finished. Also get a written and signed contract. I've also learned that the hard way.

Make sure they are bonded and have workman's compensation.

I would be happy to go look at it and give her an estimate for completion. I will say up front, I'm not going to take her money and leave her with an incomplete job. My name is on the company and I'm old fashioned in that a handshake seals the deal.

I could possibly stop by one day/evening next week.

Let me know if I can help.
